What is infertility?
A couple is considered infertile when they fail to conceive after one year of having regular sexual intercourse without the use of any contraceptive method.
Traditionally, failure to get pregnant is often associated to women’s condition, but male-factor infertility is as frequent as female infertility. Accordingly, one third of infertility cases may be attributed to male factors and one third to female-related conditions. The remaining cases are attributed to a combination of male and female factor or are of unknown origin, probably due to environmental pollution or stress.
Assisted conception specialists claim that women are most fertile between the ages of 20 and 25, while men at the age of 30. That’s why couples are recommended not to put off starting a family and look for medical help when the infertility problem has been present for long.
