Habitual pregnancy symptoms

  • Nausea, gastric disorders, ringing ears, dizziness, and slight discomfort in the lower belly.
  • Skin: Liver spots usually appear, most frequently on the face (forehead, cheeks, nose and upper lip); abdomen: the middle white line turns brown; surgical scars become more visible.
  • Striae: These may be located on the skin of the abdomen, breast and outer thighs.
  • Veins: Abnormally dilated veins (varices) may develop on outer thighs and legs, as well as on the vulva. Hemorrhoids (anal varices) often appear, causing anal pain and bleeding when defecating. Seek medical attention if you experience any of the above problems.
  • In the last trimester, you may experience heartburns, constipation and flatulence. Consult your physician.
  • Primiparas have less prominent abdomens than multiparas.
  • Signs of danger: If at any time during your pregnancy you experience loss of blood or liquid through the genitalia or excessive vaginal flow, seek medical help from you physician.
  • Also consult your physician if you experience rhythmic contractions during the second or third trimester. Remember that isolated contractions are not uncommon in the second half of pregnancy.
Important recommendations
  • Diet: During pregnancy, body weight should increase between 9 and 13 kg. Obesity during pregnancy may cause a number of inconveniences, including hypertension, edemas, varices, diabetes and difficulty to deliver. To prevent overweight, you’d better not to eat white bread, pastry, fries, pizza, pork, snacks, spicy or hot food, shellfish, sodas, ice cream and candy.

You are advised to follow a diet designed by a nutritionist. You will find it is a balanced diet that provides you with the required energy and high nutritional value.

Meat should be eaten well done. As for vegetables, care should be taken to wash them thoroughly and carefully. Such measures prevent you from getting toxoplasmosis, a parasitic disease whose pathogen completes its vital cycle in cats and whose infectious forms are released in cat feces.
